Экзамен по английскому языку для поступающих в магистратуру МШЭ МГУ им. Ломоносова
Экзамен состоит из: письменного теста по формату TOEFL, оцениваемого по 10-бальной шкале (60 минут) и беседы с преподавателем по предложенной теме (5-10 минут).
Information about TOEFL
TOEFL stands for Test of English for foreign learners. The purpose of the TOEFL test is to evaluate the English proficiency of people whose native language is not English. Most of the Universities where English is the language of instruction, government agencies & admissions committees in the USA & other countries require TOEFL scores of applicants who are non-native speakers of English but who are planning to study or work abroad.
The Moscow School of Economics uses a TOEFL-like format for its entrance examination in English for Masters' degree applicants. 5 language skills -listening, structure, written expression, vocabulary & reading- are tested at the exam that takes 60 min. Speaking habits are tested in an interview with the school teachers (5-10 min).
In the TOEFL test there are 3 sections. The TOEFL test is composed entirely of multiple-choice questions & there are 4 answer choices for each question.
Section 1 - Listening comprehension (30 minutes) measures the ability to understand spoken English. All the questions are recorded, only the answers are written out for you. The section contains some 30 questions & is composed of 3 parts. Part A - short statements, Part B- longer conversations, Part С -talks & lectures.
Section 2 - Structure & written expression (15 minutes) tests knowledge of grammatical elements of standard written English. It contains some 20 questions & has 2 parts. Part A - incomplete sentences, Part B- incorrect sentences.
Section 3 - Reading comprehension (15min) measures the ability to understand short passages similar in topic & style to academic texts used in North American Universities. You will read 3 short passages & answer questions about them.
Короткая беседа с преподавателем оценивается по следующим параметрам - произношение, свобода владения речью, грамматическая правильность речи, запас слов. За беседу ставится зачет - незачет.
